디자인은 '해석의 과정'이다: 각 프로젝트는 완성품의 형태를 갖기 위한 광범위한 연구에 의해 주도된다. 이탈리아 베네치아에 본사를 둔 디자인 스튜디오 자벤(Zaven)은 '형식적인 명확성'을 목표로 작업하며, 커뮤니케이션, 디자인, 예술 사이의 상호작용을 연구한다. 2008년 엔리카 카바르잔(Enrica Cavarzan)과 마르코 자바뇨(Marco Zavagno)가 설립한 스튜디오는 디자인 연구, 콘셉트 개발을 위해 전 세계 전문가들과 협업하고 명망있는 브랜드와의 작업을 창의적인 방향으로 제시한다. 자벤을 대표하는 두 디자이너 엔리카와 마르코는 현재 이탈리아를 비롯한 해외의 다양한 디자인 학교, 아카데미에서 강의하며 워크숍을 개최하고 있다.

RETAIL SPACES
for CLEAF

The installation designed for cleaf's showroom explores a new way to interpret the surfaces collections through the analysis of the four themes of the retail spaces project. Four microarchitectures dedicated to fashion, food, furniture and future welcome the visitor by suggesting possible applications of the material.

밀라노 디자인 위크를 맞아 자벤이 설계한 클리프(Cleaf) 쇼룸은 패션, 식품, 가구, 미래 등 4가지 테마 분석을 통해 컬렉션을 해석할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 모색한다. 분할된 각 영역의 벽면에는 마주보는 패널이 미래 시점으로 원근법을 만들고, 공간을 채색하는 라미네이트의 대형 물체가 자리 잡고 있다.

On the walls of the four areas into which the showroom is divided, the faced panels create perspective visions as future points of view for the creation of environments and they are surmounted by oversized objects made of laminate that color the spaces.

IF I HAD WINGS
YEAR. 2020

인류는 항상 비행에 대한 열망을 가지고 있었다. 자벤은 이 꿈을 이루기 위해 다양한 소품들을 상상하기 시작했고, 작은 날다람쥐와 같은 동물들로부터 영감받은 작품을 완성했다. 중력에 대항해 긴장하고 팽창하는 신체, 늘어진 망토를 시뮬레이션한 위트있는 디자인을 선보였다.

Mankind has always had the desire to fly, a desire that led them to imagine, draw and design various innovative machines. We focused on different ways to fly, taking inspiration from astronauts floating in space, airplanes soaring through the sky, and above all, animals, such as small flying squirrels gliding from tree to tree.

The result is a series of utopian apparels or suits, that are designed understanding the possibilities offered by knitted textile, and how it can be used to simulate an inflated body, or stretching cloak, that reacts to the tension of the body against the force of gravity.

지고(Zigo)는 중력에 의해 금속 틀 위에 놓이는 용융 유리(molten glass) 표면을 가진 낮은 탁자 세트다. 옻칠 또는 아연 코팅된 금속 구조의 주조 유리 상판이 특징이며, 유리 마감은 앰버 또는 페트롤 그린 컬러로 제공한다.

라이즈 컬렉션의 매트릭스는 크리스털 플랜트® 바이오 기반의 세면대를 통합하는 직사각형 데크로 타원형과 원형 두 가지 버전으로 제공된다. 내장 세면대가 있는 단일 카운터로 금속 콘솔과 결합해 욕실 또는 조리대용으로 활용이 가능하다.

조 앤 치포(Zo & Chipo) 러그는 전통적인 아프리카 가면에서 영감을 받았다. 'ZO'는 가면을 운반하는 사람으로서 영혼의 연결과 유대감을 만들어 내는 마스터다. 이 공예품의 전형적인 요소와 색상은 기하학적인 문양과 직조로 표현되었다.
The zo and chipo rugs were inspired by traditional african masks. The zo is the one that carries the mask. A master that creates a connection and a bond with the spirit within it. All the elements and the colors typical of these artifacts are represented in a stylized and geometric way, becoming a symbolic representation.

자자(ZA:ZA)는 모노 블록 연구를 통해 제작한 소파다. 해먹처럼 매달린 시트의 실체화를 위한 요소들을 합성하고 해체해 인체공학적인 외관을 구현했다. 소파는 심미성과 편안함뿐만 아니라 생산과 재활용 과정을 고려한 디자인 언어를 기반으로 한다.

ZA:ZA is a sofa created from an exclusively monobloc research, resulting from a work of synthesis and deconstruction of the elements which generates a suspended seat, just like a hammock. The ergonomic appearance is built on a language that takes into account not only aesthetics and comfort, but also the rationalization of production and recycling processes, to provide a comfortable and discerning product.

P.O.P.

Piccoli Oggetti Possibili(가능한 작은 물체)를 뜻하는 P.O.P.는 상호 작용과 대화를 위한 물체의 모음이다. 자벤의 이 작품은 페인트칠한 다섯 개의 나무 오브제로 구성되어 신체와 물건, 주변 공간과의 관계에 대한 지속적인 연구를 공식화한다.

STRAPPI

스트라피(Strappi)는 '복원 및 실천'에 전념하는 프로젝트의 이름이다. 자벤이 참여한 스트라피는 노란색으로 정의된 무대 위를 배우와 복원가가 움직이며 돌아다니는 극장 작품이다. 매우 단순하지만 강렬한 색채와 디자인적 의미를 담고 있는 가구의 풍경이 돋보이는 공간 퍼포먼스다.
